what does it feel like?

hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that you have likely experienced before – like when you lose yourself in a great movie or when you’re driving a familiar route and tune out not noticing perhaps some of the landscape as you drive by, that’s what hypnosis is like. it simply feels like you are in a deep state of relaxation, just like a guided meditation and no different than having a conversation with your eyes closed, feeling super relaxed.

don’t expect to feel hypnotized
it is much like a very deep state of relaxation, you are still awake, conscious, but extremely relaxed. everyone experiences being in hypnosis differently, both between individuals and even across multiple sessions. physically, some cannot feel their body anymore while others feel comfortably heavy; some will not move at all during the sessions while others will actively move their hands and arms and some feel nothing at all. there is no right or wrong way to experience it – the depth of trance is not an indicator of how effective the session is. regardless of how it feels, it will work for you.

is it safe?
you will not lose control or submit to the power of the hypnotist.

you are in total control the entire time and you cannot be made to say or do anything against your will. you remain in charge of what you want to share, how you want to respond and fully capable of communicating how you are feeling – if you do not want to answer a question, if you do not feel comfortable, if you are too cold/hot (ex. temperature wise), or anything else that may come to mind.

in a therapy setting, hypnosis is simply being induced into a state of consciousness where you are fluidly able to access your subconscious and are highly responsive to suggestion or direction, but only if you feel it is in your interest to do so as we are working with your internal values and beliefs.

as you are awake and conscious, you will also remember and be able to recall everything that takes place during our session together.

discover – we start by discussing what you’d like to work on, the symptoms and your background in relation to the issue that is limiting you today. then you’ll relax into hypnosis, and we will explore and interpret moments from your past that are influencing your current behaviors, habits, or patterns.

reframe & release – once we identify the underlying reasons that have held you back and understand how it no longer serves you, we can effectively release the subconscious programming.

rewire – finally we will work together to instill new, positive beliefs effectively reprogramming your subconscious. following the session, a personalized hypnosis recording will be sent to you to listen to for 21 days. research states that any new habit needs this amount of time to change or create a behavior and install new neural pathways in our brain.

how change happens – how each session works, and feels is experienced differently by everyone, even if you have multiple sessions. as a guide:
- immediate: you feel a shift right away with changes in your physiology, thoughts, and behaviors right in the session and directly after
- gradual: change happens gradually, day by day, cumulatively over time
- retro: you don’t feel or see obvious shifts right away however one day you look back and realize all the things that are different in your life

each session is approximately 2 hours.

hypnosis is not the method itself, but a crucial part of the process as it facilitates direct access to the subconscious mind. once there, a variety of tools and techniques are used to uncover the root cause of why you feel the way you do. it addresses issues from the core because breakthroughs happen when we understand the root cause, rather than just addressing the symptoms of the presenting issue as issues are only manifestations of a deeply buried belief.

the roots of RTT® are drawn from traditional psychotherapy such as gestalt, solution-focused and cognitive behavioral therapy, neuro-linguistic programming, hypnotherapy, and mindfulness and is a distinctive therapeutic approach developed by renowned therapist Marisa Peer.

each session is highly personalized and once we identify the origin of the beliefs that led to the issue, we can rewrite our subconscious programming to reframe and overcome negative beliefs, values, habits, and emotions utilizing leading scientific principles of neuroplasticity to enable the creation of new neural pathways in the mind.

but it's not just hypnosis, how RTT® works

the subconscious mind holds the secrets. 
it is our biological memory bank, a complete collection of our experiences that has been on record since our inception - it never rests. it contains not just the memory, but the interpretation of these experiences, which then formed certain beliefs and habits, both negative and positive, informing the way we behave, react, and move in the world.

according to cognitive neuroscientists, only 5% of our cognitive activity is conscious, the other 95% is beyond our conscious awareness – the subconscious mind is instinctive, reflexive, automatic, programmed. its objective to maintain safety and familiarity but can’t discern right from wrong. it simply acts based on deeply rooted beliefs made somewhere, somehow. the answer to overcoming our issues is rooted from a program or belief located in the subconscious.

simply put, we can’t make long-lasting change without accessing it!
